Overview/Brief history
Our mission
CRI Critical Care Education Network is the learning authority that provides health care professionals (doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, first responders) with the competence, and confidence to deliver the highest quality critical care in increasingly challenging conditions.
Our vision
To give health care professionals everywhere the power to provide the right critical care, in the right place, at the right time.
Brief history
We are a not for profit organization, founded by a group of dedicated Canadian intensivists. These physicians recognized the need for comprehensive and coordinated education in early and aggressive medical management to better care for the thousands of Canadians that become critically ill each year. The tremendous success and popularity of the ACES course confirmed the belief that there is a need for ongoing education in the specialty of Critical Care. In response to this, CRI was incorporated in January 2004 and proudly continues its mission of providing education in this arena as a not for profit organization.
Our philosophy of knowledge transfer and sharing of opportunities has served us well in the medical community where giving back is the norm. The founding members of CRI and current instructors and staff have donated incalculable hours and expertise in the development and continual upgrading of our courses. We place a high priority on educating health care providers and encourage a lifelong approach to learning and updating of skills. Our partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has been a mutually beneficial one that has resulted in the training of more than 260 nurses and 100 physicians in 2007 alone. Mentoring to all health care professionals is a priority which has always been apparent at CRI. Our history of working with regional centers and our ability to tailor courses to better fit the resources and staff of individual hospitals are features that make us unique in the world of critical care education. This has been evident in the past year as we’ve worked very closely with many of the regional centres to deliver the Critical Care Response Team initiative.
